Privacy policy

What CamoTab processes, where it stays, and how you can manage your information.

Website policy updated 2026-10-21
Applies to CamoTab 0.1.2

CamoTab provides local visual masks for webpage elements. It does not require an account and does not send extension data to the developer or third parties. It has no analytics, advertising, remote executable code, or cloud synchronization.

Information processed and stored

When you select an element, CamoTab inspects that element and nearby page structure to generate a mask. It stores the website hostname, an element selector, a short element label (up to 22 characters plus an ellipsis), structural matching clues, position/size, mask effects, layer order, and visibility. Labels are derived from the selected element's text or accessibility description. They can contain personal or sensitive information present in that selection. Selectors and structural identifiers may also contain information chosen by the website.

CamoTab also stores your templates and their names, local rule and template identifiers and creation times, template update times, interface preferences and tutorial completion status, and replacement images you choose, including their filenames. Do not choose content or images you do not want retained in your browser profile.

Version 0.1.2 no longer adds separate copies of element text, aria-label, alt, or title to matching clues, and does not use those descriptive attributes to generate new selectors. Existing rules retain their labels and selectors for compatibility. Legacy descriptive clues are removed when the applicable rules or templates are next saved; data for unvisited sites is not automatically migrated.

CamoTab does not read authentication cookies or intentionally inspect password field values. It does not record a general browsing history. The hostname is stored to restore masks requested by the user. This does not mean selected page content is guaranteed to contain no personal information.

Use, sharing, and retention

Data is used only to create, edit, display, synchronize between local tabs, and restore masks and templates. Synchronization between tabs stays within the extension on the same browser profile. No rules, images, filenames, page content, or hostnames are transmitted by CamoTab to a server, developer, or third party, and none are sold or used for advertising or profiling.

Data is stored in Chrome's local extension storage until you delete the corresponding rules/templates, clear the extension's storage, uninstall it, or remove the browser profile. The template list holds up to 24 templates; adding a template beyond this limit removes the template at the end of the list. Deleting a mask does not delete copies saved in templates. Undo keeps up to five temporary snapshots in that page's memory; close/reload the page to discard them. Browser/profile backup or sharing software outside CamoTab may copy local data.

Permissions and limitations

storage saves local rules and settings. unlimitedStorage supports replacement images and templates. Website access lets CamoTab draw masks and automatically restore them on ordinary webpages. The extension's bundled background worker coordinates local writes; it makes no network requests.

A visual mask does not delete or secure the underlying webpage content. Loading, navigation, layout changes, unsupported pages, or lost element matches can leave content visible. Before recording or sharing your screen, verify the masks on the page you will show. CamoTab is not a redaction or security guarantee.

Contact and limited use

For support and privacy questions, contact: j97748879@gmail.com

Do not share private page content or sensitive images in public support channels. CamoTab uses data only for its described user-facing masking features, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and Limited Use requirements.

Product website and support email

The sections above describe the CamoTab extension. The product website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit the website, the hosting provider processes network request information needed to serve and protect the site, which may include IP addresses, request details, and device-related information. This does not upload masks, templates, or images from the extension to the website.

The website itself does not set analytics or advertising cookies, use analytics scripts, or require an account. The effect demonstration runs only in the current page. It cannot read other tabs or extension data and does not save your demonstration choices.

If you choose to send a support email, the developer and the email provider, Google (Gmail), will process your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send to respond to your question or request. The extension does not automatically send emails or attach extension data. Do not include passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.

Support emails and attachments are retained while a request is being handled and for no more than 90 days after it is resolved. They are then deleted from the mailbox managed by the developer, including related sent messages and copies in Trash. You may request earlier deletion through the support address. Information that must be retained by law is excluded; the email provider controls its own backups and technical deletion timelines.
